Welcome to 3rd Gen C10’s!
I’m just an average guy with a huge passion for the 1973-1987 GM trucks. I’m not a professional mechanic, I just enjoy wrenching on squarebodies in my free time. I currently own 4 squares at the moment, you’ll see most of them on the channel at some point. What you can expect to see on this channel is basic maintenance, DIY and how to’s, and ground up builds.

Is it the same specs for a chevy 03 5.3L ?
Thanks my dude your a real one for sure, I’m gonna adjust my tbi later on my 91 s10. The problem I’m having is during acceleration my truck kinda bogs down, 1st,2nd gear kinda bogs 3rd gears seems like it kicks then the 4.3 is happy again, then stop light comes up, and oil pressure tach goes down, and so does the gas gauge, sometimes the truck will turn off if I don’t have my foot on gas a little.
Nice video dude. Thanks
I love you!
Ls7 bolt then stock bolt
I am adding a gauge like this is my 03 Ranger 4.0 L what wire did you use or circuit to get the light to actually dim ? I was going to piggyback fuse it to the headlight circuit ? Thanks
Sound borla ,flowmaster, and then magnaflow. Now airflow and sound -borla Magnaflow FLOWMASTER
On the 40 series muffler which end is inlet and which is outlet
@@dentondunn4346 it should say on the muffler
@@3rdGenC10s it does say inlet on opposite side of end but across from where it’s written it has the the outlet. So which end is inlet and outlet. It’s outlets are opposite sides, one on left and other on right but where it’s written inlet is opposite of the side the pipe comes out. Wish I could share a pic for you do you’d understand
My engine light came on. code 44 came up so now, I get to replace yippee ki-yay! I'm sure it's the original part that is still in my truck, most of the parts in my 1988 chevy c1500 4.3 has never been replaced. Great video thank you very much for the info.
@@johnnybegood6228 glad it helped you out. Having a dedicated o2 socket would have helped me out tremendously.
@@3rdGenC10s I Just don't know if it has one or two oxygen sensors, one on each side, have to wait till the ground dries up a little bit. to check it out. I could take the map gas and heat it up to replace it. Because I also have to replace the MAP Sensor Again, great video.
Innovation at is best
Cam holding hood up 😂
Got to use what you have laying around. 😂
time to get back on this project man we need updates!
Sold it.
This was the best overall video for me on that process. NOTE: if you have a 1973-1978, there is no “pin” holding the cylinder in (the one he says here not to drop). There is an unknown little slot you have to punch out by the light of the full moon on Durin’s Day. It’s often covered by the casting so you have to punch it out. There’s a very short, one-minute video showing you where it is. I think you’d never find it otherwise. Was a life-saver for me as I was about to have to drill mine out.
I appreciate it!
what paint is that??!!!
@@shadetreerestorations9053 valve covers and timing cover are Cerakoted in patriot blue.
I was just about to ask I need this paint I’m going to paint my engine over again
@@3rdGenC10s looks damn good man!
Are you using the gen 3 truck harness and ecu? I’m thinking about running a silver blade or a gold blade on mine and I dunno if they will work with my lq9 gen3 ecu
I’m using a ecm and harness from PSI conversions.
@@3rdGenC10s I got that from the video haha. I meant, does your harness have the big green and blue plugs? Or does it have something else?
@@spill-x4984 I’ll have to look, it’s been awhile since I’ve messed with the pickup. I think it is blue and green but I’ll have to double check.
Hey, does that horn cover just pop off? I'm going to try and rehab mine but I don't want to break it by mistake, thanks a lot, great videos! 1984 Chevy C20.
Yes sir
I just bought some 77 doors for for my 84 there bare doors no windows or nothing and my question is can I take my wing windows out of my 84 doors and put in the 77 doors?
They’re are a few different vent windows, I don’t think the later vent windows will fit in the earlier doors. Nor will the door panels be correct for the doors.
Perfect. Right to the point. Thanks
Glad it helped you out!
that's not a 54 cab or grill.
Yeah it’s just a photo to show what the trucks could look like with the kit installed. Thank you for taking time out of your day to correct something so trivial.
@@3rdGenC10s I certainly hope you feel better!
I’m fantastic! Even though your comment was meant to throw shade it’s only helping me out. Commenting on videos really help out in the algorithm in turn making me more money.
What AC Bracket setup are you using? I thought the Tejas mounts set the motor too far forward for the mechanical fan? Did you have to do anything special to make it work?
It’s a top mount from ICT billet. Tejas mounts allow you to use the factory location with a slight notch in the frame. I didn’t want to bitch my frame.
Can I use that adapter for a 77 gmc ?
Yes sir I don’t think the pumps changed until 81 or so
I want to see the DYNO results not your feelings
Then go buy all 3 mufflers and rent some time on a dyno…. Nah you wouldn’t have the time. Your to busy being a keyboard warrior.
I almost bought new mirrors thinking it was the rubber seal . Thanks a bunch !
Glad it saved you some money!
What gauges are those?
Dakota digital
Is this the same for a 09?
No torque specs are a little different.
@3rdGenC10s where can I get the 2009 spec I'm having a hard time finding them
@@mperez0210 help.summitracing.com/knowledgebase/article/SR-05187/en-us
I have the same center console. Did you fab mounts, and if so, I'd love to see some pics!
I have plans to 😂 but it fits so good that I haven’t yet
Nice!
Works great
No comparison. Louder isn’t always better. The Borla Pro XS is the best sounding and quality budget muffler you can buy.
Borla all the way.
What you do about the stream ports
Blocked off the rear and ran a crossover from ICT billet on the front. I drilled and tapped into the return side of my water pump so there is no hose running across everything to the radiator.
@3rdGenC10s why did you block of the rear
@tylorlindstrom3972 they aren’t really necessary, gm did it from the factory in the later blocks. Plus the way the tejas mounts set the motor in there with the front being higher asteam is going to rise so the rear wouldn’t really burp steam anyways.
What model and year vehicle did this pump come from?
2013 camaro
@@3rdGenC10sand it lines up with the crank with no spacers?
@hosscaddy yes it fits the truck spacing
Can you just use braided kevlar hose with clamp over the fuel lines or do you have to use AN 6 lines
Im not sure on that. I would assume you could use clamps but idk know that answer for sure.
Procrastinate. Dang bubs get to the point. Thumbs down.
I’m heartbroken
2021 gmc sierra 5.3?
2003
Is there enough room under the intake for a steam vent tube?
Yes
@3rdGenC10s Thanks for the quick reply!
No problem
So did you slide the seal down the track with the window in the track as well?
Yes added some window cleaner for lube and it slid right in.
lol that video preview "1974 c10 LS Swapped first start!" picture blocked the subtitles you put up.
My bad.
Quick question I know this video is 3 years old but is this a simple dress up for the ugly stock bracket? And does it keep everything in the stock location? Thank you for your time and effort in your videos.
Just dresses it up. Everything is in stock location.
My hub bolts were a son of b*** to get off.07 silverado. Use a torch and pb blaster
I live in Oklahoma so nothing really rusts on out here.
I again extremely helpful video. I am added another tank on my 84. What pigtail did you use for the sending unit?
a.co/d/9Vy4FPw
Of coarse you did
???
Once you put a more aggressive camshaft in it with long tube headers it will really bring out the sounds of the mufflers. Flowmaster 40s all the way for me. Sounded absolutely amazing on my '76 K5 with Hooker longtube headers on a mild 383 I used to have with 226/228 cam on 110 LSA, and I mean the whole neighborhood would come out thinking some nasty old school muscle car was out front only for them to see an old Blazer lol. Now i've got a LS 5.3L bone stock with stock manifold hooked up to the 40s and it still sounds good but i'm working my way to a Chopacabra, Truck Norris or maybe the SLoppy Best cam.
I’ll be running the Truck Norris in my c10 with Longtubes and a true dual with x pipe
@@3rdGenC10s Have you already purchased the headers? Going with the Speed Engineering or eBay knockoffs? I've always had an H pipe on the K5 but was thinking of going to X pipe after getting the longtube headers.
@drewnashty speed engineering. They are already bolted to the motor and it’s set in the frame.
what belt and did you use the Camaro tensioner?
Camaro
Thank you.. I needed that
Glad it helped you out.
Dumb question. Are all the steps necessary? Could I just turn the T-20 to make it idle higher?
You actually shouldn't turn that torx to change your idle. It changes the values on the throttle position sensor and can cause transmission shifting issues. You can do everything else he talked about, maybe adjust timing but no touch the throttle screw.
I would follow the steps recommended by GM
I'm no engine guru but I did spend 8 yrs in the US Navy operating Nuclear Reactors onboard Fast Attack Submarines, maintained, repaired and overhauled the engine room and have 10 US Patents in design of Fault Tolerant Servers. So rather than using those crappy thin rods many say bend, why not just buy a 5$ steel bolt whose diameter is a bit less than the crank bolt, cut of the head so it slides in and takes the place of said crappy thin a** rod or buy a stock piece of steel rod from the Big Box HW store, cut it to lengths with your grinder and then either way you have something thick and hard to press against the crank which should make this even easier than your experience................Just sayin'.................Nice demo thought..thank you Brother.
I already bought the tool with the rods so didn’t see the need to buy more rods, some say they bend. I’ve never had the issue but I also don’t put a impact on mine.
What upper hose was used?
a.co/d/2GNnsUq
I happen to have one of the code readers.. At what point in this do I unplug it? And should I have it set to emc or abs?
All the steps are in the description, I haven’t messed with a tbi in years so I can’t remember off the top of my head.
I think alot people get it hung up, looking at reviews. It's like doing any kind of steer shaft u-joint sometimes even have to hit with a hammer to release the binding, especially if doing in a vice nice video man.
I appreciate it.
Where did u find the top plate that goes over the radiator?
Lmc truck
Where did you get the rubber "isolator" material for the tank straps?
Previous owner put it on, I’m not sure where he got it.
